REPORT:
Bill Kassakatis and I fished for LARGEMOUTH BASS on Saturday, 05/02/98, from 7:05 AM until 3:20 PM, on the Dundee and Saltpeter Creeks. All bass were caught on lures using light spinning or baitcasting equipment, measured and released.

We fished under a low front condition. Excellent bass fishing weather. There are some excellent grass beds located in the Dundee and Saltpeter Creeks. Look for grass offshore and in chunks.

TOTAL LARGEMOUTH BASS CAUGHT WAS 12. The bass ranged from 12 inches to 19 inches, with 3 bass 15 inches or over. Average size was 13.25 inches. The biggest Largemouth was caught on a Berkley Power Finesse Worm, 4 inches, Black Body-Blue Tail. Fished on a 1/16 once Oldham’s Weedless Moss Head Screwlock Jig Head.

Bass were located on points, flats containing grass chunks, and just out from the shoreline. The tide was incoming when we started. Bass were caught at different times throughout the day.

MOST PRODUCTIVE LURE- Yamamoto Single Tail Grub, 5 inch, Smoke, No. 002

MOST PRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUE-Bottom Worming technique. The grub was kept in contact with the bottom at all times.

The following lure information is supplied for REFERENCE ONLY. It gives the readers an opportunity to see such lures through the Internet or in catalogs. THESE TYPES OF LURES ARE MADE BY OTHER MANUFACTURERS which may be just as, or more productive than, the lures listed. I do not work for any of the lure manufacturers below, but these lures have been productive this trip.

OTHER PRODUCTIVE LURES

Bass Assassin Crawdad, 4 inches, June Bug, CA3415

Rebel Pop-R, 1/ 4 once, Baby Bass

Baits were tipped with Smelly Jelly Crawfish or Real Craw Concentrated Crawfish (exception to this were the Berkley Power Finesse Worms)

FISHING TIP

Always keep your soft plastic baits in the package you buy them in. These packages are made to keep the scent fresh and strong. Never mix these baits with other baits of any type.

Good Fishing…..Tom Hughes
