REPORT:
My big boat was just put over and new shaft aligned on monday. I had some time and volunteered to judge at Rock Hall. As it is said if you can't beat them join them. There were quite a few nice fish checked in yesterday in the Rock Hall Tourney. All fish checked in were caught chumming. Most action seemed to be around Love Point, with the fewer but larger fish coming from the bayside, quantity of smaller fish on the riverside. The prefered water depth seemed to be 25-32'. The largest fish cauight was 18.1# 36" which put him in second place as a 20.3#er was caught on friday. It was disappointing to see few circle hooks rigged up but most fisherman did say they knew about them. About 30% of the weighted in fish were deep hooked and proabely would not have survived. I would encourage everyone to use the circle hooks. I have even started to file off the barb as it is not needed to keep the fish on. The surprise of the day was a 16# 34" bluefish also caught off LP. Heard quite a few boats had limits with most boats having at least a few fish. This will hopefully be my last non-participating fishing report.
On an offshore note a few 40# bluefins were reported being caught off Wachapregue. The water offshore has been cooler then average unlike our Chesapeake Bay.
