REPORT:
Bill Kassakatis and I fished for STRIPED BASS and WHITE PERCH on Saturday, 06/06/98, from 6:18 AM until 6:30 PM.

We fished the PATAPSCO RIVER for Striped Bass from 6:18 AM until 7:37 AM. The water temperature was 68 degrees. Fished a point, pilings and other visible structures in a cove and an underwater mound. No Striped Bass were in shallow water. Did not get a strike and no bait fish were seen. To avoid getting skunked we loaded the boat back on the trailer and went to the South River. As you will see, it was a good move.

We fished the SOUTH RIVER for Striped Bass and White Perch from 9:05 AM until 6:30 PM. The water temperature was 73 degrees and the water was murky with visibility to 2 1/2 feet. There were plenty of bait fish throughout the river.

TOTAL STRIPED BASS CAUGHT WAS 33. The Stripers ranged from 9 inches to 14 inches. The most productive structure was a breakline (the depth went from 4’ to 6’ at this breakline) between 2 docks. My records show large Striped Bass in this river by the first week of June. If they were there, they did not want what we were casting.

NUMBER OF STRIPERS CAUGHT DURING THIS TIDE:

28 - Incoming

5 - Outgoing

0 - Still

MOST PRODUCTIVE LURE-Bill Lewis, Tiny Trap, Vibrating Crankbait, 1/8 ounce in Chrome/Black Back

MOST PRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUE-Crank & Stop-cast the lure out crank 5 times on the reel handle, STOP for 1 second, then repeat this to the end of the cast.

WHITE PERCH FISHING:

From the lures listed above you can see that we were mainly fishing for White Perch. The majority of Perch were around trees and bushes located in the water. These trees and bushes had to be in a shaded area to be productive. Most were caught on Tiny Traps, worked as slow as possible. In fact, it was the slowest I ever worked a trap.

TOTAL OF WHITE PERCH CAUGHT WAS 78. We also caught 1 Yellow Perch of 12 inches and 6 Pickerels to 19 inches.

MOST PRODUCTIVE LURE- Bill Lewis, Tiny-Trap, Vibrating Crankbait, 1/8 oz., Gold Tennessee Shad

MOST PRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUE-Crank & Stop-cast the lure out crank 5 times on the reel handle, STOP for 1 second, then repeat this to the end of the cast.
